After a series of transformative encounters, Molina will climb a golden staircase (top and bottom) to at last discover the truest love of his life. BOTH THE RED AND BLACK bar sets (previous pages) and the finale set shown here required large-scale traditional hand-painted backdrops to surround them. Appropriately, with no digital or printing tech involved. Walter Zylinski and Peter Miller were the masterful key scenics. Our marvelous director of photography Tobias Schliessler lit the red and black bar to perfection, while Broadway lighting stars Jules Fisher and Peggy Eisenhauer brought the golden stairway to vivid life in primary colors. FILMMAKING IS A COLLABORATIVE MEDIUM. None of us can do alone what we can do together... and sometimes it even turns out well. But this movie would not have been made at all were it not for the talent, energy and tenacity of writer and director Bill Condon. Thank you Bill. What a good thing you've manifested.
