JANELLE CARTER Northern California rewards planners with reach and reliability. Three major air- ports serve the region: San Francisco, Oakland, and San Jose. BART links SFO and OAK to downtown cores so teams avoid freeway uncertainty. OAKLAND Oakland gives groups urban ener- gy with short transfers. From Oakland International Airport, the BART connector reaches Coliseum Station, then trains run about twelve minutes to 12th Street Oakland City Center, steps from the convention campus. The Oakland Convention Center, connected to the Oakland Marriott City Center, lists just over one hundred thousand square feet of flexible space with dozens of meeting rooms and direct hotel integration, which simplifies contracting and operations. The on-site hotel adds ballrooms and breakouts under one roof, helpful for executive programs that need security and tight control of movement. Walkable districts multiply options. Old Oakland and Uptown supply restaurants suited for buyouts, while Jack London Square supports water- front receptions and team dinners with straightforward coach access. Daytime agendas center on the City Center BART station, keeping commutes short for local attendees and trimming rideshare spend. For larger evenings, Fox Theater and the Kaiser Center Rooftop Garden convert to memorable event settings with robust power and staging. Production vendors here are comfortable with fast branding turns and union coordination. Load zones near the Marriott keep exhibitor move in efficient, and the campus sits within an easy walk of arts venues that photo- graph well for sponsor recaps. SAN FRANCISCO San Francisco continues to run large shows with precision at Moscone Center. The campus offers more than seven hun- dred ninety thousand square feet of exhib- it space across North, South, and West, with over five hundred thousand square feet of contiguous space when North and South are combined. Headquarter hotels ring the campus with ballrooms and junior ballrooms for ancillary functions, and Yerba Buena Gardens provides green space for sponsor activations or morning wellness within a short walk. Attendees landing at SFO board BART at the International Terminal and reach down- town in about thirty minutes when trains run normally. It is a practical meetings ecosystem from arrival to load out. From touch- down to departure, the system works cleanly for planners. Muni, taxi stands, and reserved rideshare bays reduce crowding on Howard Street at peak release. For citywides, produc- tion teams appreciate ceiling heights, column layouts, and the ability to scale across halls while keeping freight routes efficient. Plan- ners should watch agency alerts for period- ic maintenance on BART and keep a simple message map ready so atten- dees have alternate routes if service slows. Off-site options remain close: museums, theaters, and private din- ing rooms are within a compact radius, which preserves session time while lifting sponsor hospitality. WHO YOU GONNA CALL? Highlights include one hundred sixty thousand square feet of exhibit space, forty thousand square feet of ballroom space, seventy nine thousand square feet of meeting space, a fifteen thou- sand square foot outdoor activities plaza, and thirty seven breakout rooms .After plenaries, exits are straightforward, which calms peak- release crowds. Downtown hotels sit within an easy walk, and the city's restaurant scene handles private din- ing for boards and sponsors. The convention campus is close to major venues for spillover events, and city services are familiar with large delegate movements, which helps with curb management, coach stag- ing, and secure load in coordination.
