LMGI COMPASS | Fall 2025 • 29 "Thank you so much for this award—to be recognized in this way by a jury of my peers, as it were, means a tremendous amount to me," said Jones as he accepted the award with characteristic humor. "Never in my wildest dreams would I find myself flying to work in the lost city of Petra on a Jordanian Air Force helicopter. I never imagined getting thrown in jail for accidentally on purpose trespassing on a Bahamian military base while on a scouting assignment. Incidentally, when the producer heard I was in jail, he said 'great! Ask him how big his cell is—we need one for the movie!' "This job has given me a tremendous amount, including exciting travel to all corners of the globe, but the best thing it has given me is the opportunity to meet and work with a galaxy of remarkable individuals." Jones also thanked LM Bob Craft/LMGI and UK-based production manager Allison Malone who gave him his early jobs. Included in the presentation was a reel of shout- outs from the many people Jones had worked with and mentored over the years. THE HUMANITARIAN AWARD 2025 The LMGI Humanitarian Award recognized MAKE-A-WISH FOUNDATION, GREATER LOS ANGELES for fulfilling the life-changing wishes of seriously ill children, providing them with strength and joy throughout their treatments. Presenter and a longtime volunteer DON PELL noted how location managers and the Foundation share a special talent: turning imagination into reality. "In countless ways, the people at Make-A- Wish Foundation, Greater Los Angeles make wishes happen with creativity, with passion, with love," he said before presenting the award to PRESIDENT AND CEO OF MAKE-A-WISH FOUNDATION, GREATER LOS ANGELES, APARNA PANDE. "A wish come true is a powerful gift to a critically ill child," she said. "When faced with so much darkness, a wish brings purpose and joy. A wish has the power to change and uplift lives. Kids rediscover the strength to keep going. Instead of only focusing on treatments and hospital stays, they can experience the pure joy of just being a kid." The LMGI is particularly moved by the organization's mission, as many wishes center on the very experiences we help create— meeting beloved performers, visiting film sets and accessing the wonder that our industry brings to the world. Jones was introduced by friend and colleague, PRODUCER IAN BRYCE (Saving Private Ryan, Transformers) who relishes their over 20-year relationship. "That appetite for exploration is in Ilt's blood and made him the perfect partner to lead us to a vast array of some of the most beautiful, iconic, sensitive, historical, fascinating and exciting film locations that we were privileged to film together."
