8 PROP CULTURE I FALL 2025 MEET JORDAN DEVRIES With more than 20 years in the game, Jordan has been involved with prop manufacturing at multiple world-class Los Angeles prop shops and a part of some amazing on-set teams too. A memorable moment for Jordan specifically came while working at Studio Art & Technology (SAT) on Disney's The Jungle Cruise (Property Master Doug Harlocker). From many hero and stunt rubber period weapons to hand- painted luggage, treasure maps, and magical flowers, they had quite the workload for the show. Then a specific project came to him involving a guitar for the lead character played by Dwayne Johnson, an adventure-loving riverboat captain. The character had a tattered ol' guitar to strum around the campfire. This challenge is the perfect example of the old adage: "If you only have one, you have none." The Property Department found a beautifully aged guitar but couldn't go into filming without a backup. So, he was given a similar guitar and the challenge to paint it to match the hero. This was a fun challenge to match the wood grain, tone, and age spots as best as he could with such a short turnaround. The finished side-by-side shows how close he got. When matching a hero and painting multiples of a specific prop, the hope is that the camera and audience don't notice Jordan was ever "there." After many years of painting for film and TV, he loves getting the opportunity to add his own sliver of creativity to help define characters and add to the film's story.
