50 • LMGI COMPASS | Summer 2025 OUTSTANDING LOCATIONS IN A SINGLE COMMERCIAL Army National Guard: Uncommon Is Calling Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred Lilo & Stitch: The Super Bowl Commercial Stella Artois: David and Dave Orient Express: Artisan of Travel ARMY NATIONAL GUARD: Uncommon Is Calling A dramatic black-and-white ad challenges young people to imagine the potential of part-time service by comparing soldiers' everyday lives with the uncommon situations they experience by enlisting in the Army National Guard. Several locations across Georgia were selected to illustrate the Guard's versatility in responding to emergencies across the country: a Blackhawk helicopter canyon rescue was filmed in Tallulah Gorge State Park, rising suburban floodwaters were captured at a disaster training facility near Macon and debris- strewn streets amidst a storm were staged in the Blue Ridge Mountain town of Toccoa. DIABLO IV: VESSEL OF HATRED Filmed at a single breathtaking location in Thailand, the live- action trailer for Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred immerses us in a character's dark journey in the uncharted jungles of Nahantu. Kanchanaburi's otherworldly ambience brings the treacherous world of Sanctuary to life, its natural landscapes carefully crafted to depict a cursed land within the Diablo universe. The rugged terrain, dense foliage and eerie aesthetic set the mood, its haunting beauty evoking ancient mysteries and portending danger. ORIENT EXPRESS: Artisan of Travel A breathless fever dream piques the imagination to follow the tracks of a global transportation legend for the relaunch of its epic train service connecting Paris to Istanbul: Orient Express. Filmed mainly in Turkey, with some passages captured in Slovenia and Italy, the visually rich campaign showcases the brand's legacy of luxury and adventure. The ad contrasts composition and texture in a series of brief but astonishing shots. The colorful Nallihan Rainbow Hills in the capital of Ankara are a magical backdrop for a flock of birds on the wing. Primal water-hewn caverns in Cappadocia, a pristine salt lake, ornate ancient buildings and a herd of wild horses roaming on Central Turkey's steppes stir an exhilarating sense of discovery. STELLA ARTOIS: David and Dave Stella Artois sparks a shared moment between long-lost brothers in a tongue-in-cheek Super Bowl LIX commercial, directed by Ben Affleck and featuring David Beckham and Matt Damon. The moody, dark- beamed Wellesbourne Pub in Los Angeles mimics an English tavern where Beckham meets his parents to learn he has a twin brother, played by Damon, living in America. Beckham meets his twin in the doorway of a sunny ranch house filmed in Santa Clarita, CA, as Austin, Texas. Contrasting the humor of Matt's football loving, ultra-midwestern American to Beckham's European soccer star, the story's filming locations highlight the brothers' contrasting personalities and their shared enjoyment of a cold Stella. LILO & STITCH: The Super Bowl Commercial Stitch runs loose at the big game in an imaginative Super Bowl spot announcing the upcoming live-action remake of Lilo & Stitch. Cameras capture a "breaking development" as the mischievous blue alien crashes the arena in front of millions of viewers, interrupting the game and causing chaos on the field. Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas was chosen as a match for the Superdome in New Orleans, site of this year's championship showdown. The ad makes use of Allegiant's bright features and bold angles to highlight Stitch's antics and showcase how the series' physical comedy will interact with live action environments.
