OUTSTANDING LOCATIONS IN A CONTEMPORARY FILM

ANORA
Iconic sites in Brooklyn and Las Vegas lend romance and
magic to a modern Cinderella story of a stripper who falls for
the son of a Russian oligarch, only to have her fantasy unravel.
Filmed entirely on location, an opulent mansion in the exclusive
waterfront Mill Basin neighborhood, a real gentlemen's club in
Manhattan and the iconic Russian restaurant Tatiana's Nightclub
in Brighton Beach lend an unmistakable authenticity to the
characters and their lives. The Fremont Street Experience and
Little White Chapel host a frenzied trip to Vegas. Classic Brooklyn
greasy spoon Parkview Diner and beloved landmark Williams
Candy Shop in Coney Island infuse the story with a sense of
community and youthful innocence, raising the emotional ante to
a bittersweet climax.
A REAL PAIN
In this poignant and visually rich film, estranged cousins
reunite for a heartfelt journey across Poland to honor their
late grandmother. As they trace their family roots, old tensions
reignite, their personal skirmishes playing out while touring
cities such as Warsaw, Lublin and Krasnystaw. From the
remnants of the Warsaw Ghetto to an abandoned cemetery
and the haunting grounds of Majdanek, the cousins' evolving
relationship mirrors the complexities of the past. Most
places, including POLIN Museum and the Warsaw Insurgents
Monument, play themselves. Theirs is a journey set against
the powerful backdrop of Jewish history, as they try to process
complex emotions triggered by these historic sites and reconcile
their feelings for each other.
CONCLAVE
Masterful location work matches unaffiliated sites for
those of the Catholic Church to stage the gathering of the
College of Cardinals and the scandalous political intrigue
that swirls around the selection of the next Pope. Solemn,
contemplative spaces capture the mood of formalism and
tradition, with multiple locations strung together to represent
the magnificence of the Vatican and its modest Santa Marta
guesthouse. Santo Spirito in Sassia replicates the Santa
Marta courtyard, the Museo della Civiltà Romana provides
its bleached hallways and graphic steps, and military base
Caserma Ruffo holds the muted and melancholy atmosphere
of its dining room. The Vatican finds a glorious mimic in the
Reggia di Caserta, while its warmth and color is captured in the
Palazzo Barberini.
