LMGI COMPASS | Summer 2025 • 11 LMGI Strengthens Global Relationships at Cannes The 2025 Cannes Film Festival saw the LMGI sign Memorandums of Understanding (MOU) with the European Film Commissions Network (EUFCN) and the Asian Film Commission Network (AFCNet), establishing a framework of cooperation between the associations. Says Guild President John Rakich, "This partnership with the AFCNet marks a significant step in expanding our friendship and collaboration into the vibrant Asian markets and filming communities. Together, we are committed to fostering innovative information exchange, supporting regional growth, and empowering the vital work of location professionals across Asia and around the world. We look forward to building lasting relationships and advancing the art and craft of global storytelling— together. "The signing of this MOU between the LMGI and the EUFCN represents a meaningful step forward in fostering international collaboration. By aligning our efforts, we aim to strengthen the connection between location professionals and European film commissions, promoting excellence, sustainability and innovation in global location management." EUFCN President Adrian A. Mitchell notes, "Film commissions love their locations, and location scouts and managers love a good location. How could this relationship not be a hit? We dive into this partnership with a sensation of enthusiastic anticipation, energized with great passion for our work. I think both networks and members of the EUFCN and the LMGI will genuinely benefit in our pursuit of crafting the opportunities that lie ahead for local commissions and the creative eye. We wish to broaden the scope of awareness of the vast and spectacular European locations and contribute to a sustainable and professional partnership on all levels. There is great potential in promotion, professionalism and facilitation that benefits all. The journey is here, now."
