PRODUCTS www.postmagazine.com 24 POST JULY/AUG 2025 ARRI BOOSTS HIGH-SPEED CAPABILITIES OF ALEXA 35 CAMERA MUNICH, GERMANY — Arri (www.arri.com) has announced a high-speed version of its workhorse camera, the Alexa 35. The new Alexa 35 Xtreme is designed for filmmakers who desire higher frame rates, a high-quality codec that reduces data rates and much longer pre-recording times, along with lower power consumption and significantly improved WiFi capabilities. Alexa 35 Xtreme is available as a new camera or as an upgrade to existing Alexa 35 models and can deliver frame rates of up to 660fps. This eliminates the need for a secondary high-speed camera. The camera benefits from a new and powerful main processor, as well as more and faster on-board memory. Frame rates up to 330fps retain the camera's full 17 stops of dynamic range, while a new Sensor Overdrive mode allows frame rates up to 660fps at a dy- namic range of 11 stops. The Alexa 35 Xtreme is complemented by ArriCore, the company's next-gen- eration RGB codec that's designed to deliver exceptional image quality at a more accessible cost by reducing data rates. At the same time, flexibility in post is assured since sensitivity, white balance and tint are not baked in. Switching to ArriCore is easy because on-set and post workflows remain con- sistent with existing Alexa 35 codecs and drives. Pre-recording times are now 5x longer with the Xtreme. Pre-recording time is :30 seconds when shooting 24fps Apple ProRes 4444 in the highest reso- lution, or a full five minutes when shooting 24fps Apple ProRes 422 HQ in HD. Upgrades can be carried out at selected Arri Service Centers and will retain any installed licenses. KALI AUDIO RELEASES HP-1 MULTI-REFERENCE HEADPHONES LOS ANGELES — Kali Audio (kaliaudio.com) has introduced the HP-1 over-ear, DSP-powered headphones, which are designed for mixing and quality-control applications. The HP-1 provides users with a neutral, accurate representation of their mix, as well as the ability to hear how their work will sound on most of today's popular headphones. The HP-1 has three voicings — studio, bass-heavy and consumer — and users can switch between the three with the press of a button. The LED on the right ear cup changes color to indicate the selected tuning, and a voice prompt will also let the user know exactly what they're listening to. A wired connection is available via a 3.5mm jack on the headphone and an included cable, providing the highest-fidelity playback. Bluetooth pairing is also possible for casual listening and on-the-go use. Beyond its use as a pair of stu- dio headphones, the HP-1 features active noise cancelling, wireless calling and physical playback controls. The headphones feature a closed back with 40mm drivers that support a frequency response of 18Hz to 22kHz. The battery supports at least 40 hours of playback on a full charge and can be recharged using the included USB-C cable. A zippered carrying case is included. Pricing is $199.
