M OT I O N P I CTU R E S O U N D E D I TO R S 83 your workflow, like instantly naming rendered files according to your specific naming convention and keeping them neatly organized in your original game audio folder. If your workflow includes using SFX databases, like BaseHead, Soundminer, or Soundly to find sounds, Strata offers a significant workflow advantage. When you find a Strata sound, you are only one click away from launching the originating REAPER project, with the cursor parked at the start of that sound, so you can customize it to exactly what you need. Add to that the fact that the sounds are often set up to render as different layers, like stems, that can be played in the game and respond to gameplay interactively. This is something that can take a lot of painstaking work to set up, and it's ready for the customization of multiple variations of sounds that match the needs of the game, and to transfer seamlessly to Wwise objects and into your game. Built with Wwise in Mind Can you elaborate on Strata's integration with Wwise and how it streamlines workflows for interactive audio projects? Simon Pressey: The integration with Wwise is built into the design of Strata. The collections are game audio focused. We knew the files were not going to just stay in REAPER; they were going to be integrated into a project and likely undergo several iterations. So, we created a transfer tool, ReaWwise, a REAPER extension that connects to Wwise using the Wwise Authoring API (WAAPI). ReaWwise allows you to transfer Strata files to your Wwise project, creating Wwise hierarchies and automatically naming each part of the hierarchy, along with the file names. You can save and recall ReaWwise presets and use them across many Strata projects. ReaWwise can use existing Wwise objects as templates, inheriting their settings to further streamline the integration process. The more one uses this workflow across a project, the more efficient the workflow can be, which is time that can be spent on other aspects of the audio design. The REAPER tools are all free to use and available to install in REAPER by adding Audiokinetic's Git repository to ReaPack: https://github.com/Audiokinetic/ Reaper-Tools/raw/main/index.xml Strata's Footstep collection open in REAPER The "Generic Grass - Wet Short" subproject from Strata's Footstep collection open in REAPER
