he Apple TV+ limited series Dope Thief
follows two lifelong friends who pose as
DEA agents to rob small-time drug dealers
on the streets of Philadelphia. They and their
families are chased by DEA, bikers, and cartel.
The producers called me about my interest in
this type of project, which seemed tailored to
my wheelhouse. Collaborating with Department
Head Hair Shunika Terry was a true creative
partnership. After meeting with the pilot director,
Ridley Scott, and showrunner Peter Craig,
Shunika and I aligned on one goal: authenticity.
We wanted the audience to see and feel the raw
essence of Philadelphia in each character. Rocky
Faulkner was key make-up and to complete the
series was Tami Lane. Make-up artist Ngozi
Olandu Young was with us all season. These
artisans of the make-up and hair teams were
always prepared to take the characters to the
next level. We knew we were about to create
work to be truly proud of.
