M OT I O N P I CTU R E S O U N D E D I TO R S 7 Greetings, Wavelength readers! Welcome to our Summer 2025 edition. We've got a great lineup of articles to kick off your summer reading. We're thrilled to feature Kate Finan and Jeff Shiffman of Boom Box Post on our cover this season. Korey Pereira interviews them about the vision they've nurtured since their Warner Bros. days and how they turned it into the powerhouse operation they lead today. (Pg. 58) This issue also includes an in-depth interview by David Barber with the award-winning sound team from The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, hosted by "MPSE Presents" in association with the NYU Tisch School of the Arts as part of their inaugural festival. (Pg. 66) We are debuting a new column, "Breaking & Entering," led by Charles Maynes. In this series, we'll share stories from our Board members and MPSE's active members about how they broke into the post-production industry. There's no one-size-fits-all path, and you'll hear a variety of personal stories that are sure to resonate with you. We'd love to hear about your own "breaking in" experiences, so don't hesitate to share them with us! (Pg. 18) On May 4, the MPSE together with the wonderful team at FOX Studio Lot, celebrated the 20th Anniversary of Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith with a special screening of the film in Dolby Atmos! Afterward, MPSE's V.P. Eric Marks hosted a special Q&A with co- supervising sound editor Matthew Wood, and a very special guest made a surprise appearance and nearly brought down the house! (Pg. 26) It's been a while since we've heard from one of our most entertaining contributors, Chris Assells, but he's back with another story that's sure to surprise! Grab your favorite beverage and settle in as he comes clean in his article, "The Day of the Dolphin" (which has nothing to do with the 1973 Mike Nichols movie). (Pg. 34) These are just a few highlights—there's much more to explore in this summer's Wavelength. As always, I hope you find these articles both entertaining and inspiring.
