The 61st CAS Awards was a successful, celebratory, and entertaining event where production sound mixer Tod A. Maitland CAS was honored with our Career Achievement Award and director/writer/producer Denis Villeneuve received our Filmmaker Award. In this issue, we get to meet the winners from our seven Outstanding Achievement in Sound Mixing categories, along with our Student Recognition Award winner, Guillermo Moya. *If you were unable to attend or wish to revisit the celebration, videos of the acceptance speeches, as well as other content, are available by navigating: AWARDS > 61ST AWARDS > 61ST ANNUAL AWARDS COVERAGE or https://cinemaaudiosociety. org/61st-annual-awards-coverage/ Orchestrating interviews with the winning sound teams takes a great amount of effort and I'd like to thank those who volunteered their time: CAS Associate Sam Casas, Juan Cisneros CAS, Keith Hodne CAS, Kurt Kassulke CAS, Peter Kelsey CAS, Brandon Schuster CAS, Patrick Spain CAS, Karol Urban CAS MPSE, and Daniel Vasquez V. CAS. In addition to our "Meet the Winners" articles, Foley mixer Arno Stephanian CAS MPSE walks us through the prep and execution of recording and mixing Foley in his article, "A Day in the Life of a Foley Mixer." In our world of sound, each day can present its own "adventures." With this in mind, Chris Polczinkski CAS, along with other members from production and post, share insights into how they've addressed challenges in the workplace in the article, "When It Doesn't Go Your Way." Also, G. John Garrett CAS attended the recent NAB Show and reports on some gear that piqued his interest. Finally, be sure to read about the happenings of your fellow members in the "Been There Done That" and "The Lighter Side" sections. Thanks for taking the time to review this issue.
