Directed by Joel Schumacher with Production Design by Bo Welch, the film is a cult classic credited with reimagining vampires and the world they occupy. The illustration depicts a luxury hotel lobby buried in the 1906 San Francisco earthquake that becomes the hideout for the teen protagonists. This blueprint copy of the pencil drawing fills an entire 30- x 36-inch sheet. Jack Johnson was awarded the ADG Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2020 ceremony for his long career as an Illustrator on a host of classic films, including Star Trek (1981), The Goonies (1985), The Color Purple (1985), Beetlejuice (1988), Independence Day (1996), Big Fish (2003), among many, many others. While based on an original screenplay, The Lost Boys was spun off into a series of comic books: Lost Boys: Reign of Frogs (2008) and then eight years later as The Lost Boys (2016). A.
