8 I D G A M O N T H L Y Working to Bring Production Home The DGA has been actively working at all levels across the country to expand Federal and state tax incentives for film and television production programs in a way that ensures the protection and the creation of jobs in an increasingly global production market. • DGA Associate National Executive Director/Western Executive Director Rebecca Rhine, who also serves as the President of the Entertainment Union Coalition, is leading the charge to update California's jobs-based tax incentive program to increase funding from $330 million to $750 million annually, in a way that attracts production and creates jobs that sustain our members. The legislation is currently before members of key committees in the CA Assembly and the Senate. We encourage all California members to write to their legislators with a simple message: encourage the passage of AB 1138 and SB 630. Visit https://keepcaliforniarolling.org to find out how to act! • DGA Associate National Executive Director/Eastern Executive Director Neil Dudich has been working alongside the Guild's union partners to secure job-focused protections in the expansion of New York's state production tax credit program. We are continuing the lobby in Albany to ensure that any expansion to the state's film and TV tax incentive program centers on job creation. • DGA National Executive Director Russell Hollander and Director of Government Affairs Mike Stoever have been working to educate Congress on the importance of developing a suite of federal tax and trade policy proposals aimed at incentivizing the onshoring of film and television production in the United States Our focus remains clear: any expansion of these programs must be dedicated to creating, protecting, and preserving good-paying jobs. DGA members deserve careers that sustain families, provide healthcare, and ensure retirement with dignity. Strengthening tax incentive programs not only ensures economic viability but also prioritizes the well-being of our industry's workforce. Additionally, members now have the option to update their personal profiles by self-identifying multiple ethnicities, instead of being required to select only one. These options are designed to expand the DGA's demographic data so that we can provide more personalized information to you. In addition, we have expanded our self-identification options to include Jewish as an ethnic option and clarified nomenclature for existing designations to be more inclusive. NOTE: Members can also make their self-identification statuses private for Race/Ethnicity and Gender as well as for the existing LGBTQ+, Transgender, Disability and Veteran attributes by unchecking the box next to the icon. Attributes marked as private will not be searchable on the website's Employment Eligibility Search page and would only be used for internal DGA record keeping and communications.
