M OT I O N P I CTU R E S O U N D E D I TO R S 9 Match by Edit Data mode which uses the field recorder data stored in each Edit List event, such as Scene No, Take No, Roll Name, File Name and Shoot Date to match each event to a WAV file. This method remains the most precise option when metadata is available. Having multiple ways to match audio files means there's no longer a single point of failure. Whether an edit list is well-organized or incomplete, EdiLoad provides a structured way to reconnect files with its original recordings. This 'granular' control allows users to adapt to di„erent video edit workflows enhancing both accuracy and e†ciency. It also provides compatibility with metadata created by di„erent location recorders, and the various setups used by di„erent sound recordists. Aligning Waveforms with Greater Accuracy Once the correct WAV files have been matched, sync alignment becomes the next priority. Even with the right takes in place, inconsistencies with di„erent location setups or postproduction workflows means the waveforms don't always align perfectly. With the new Align Waveforms function, EdiLoad v6 compares the matched location WAVs to the guide track and detects any misalignment. The software then calculates the necessary o„set adjustments, allowing for sample-accurate corrections before the files are even opened in the DAW. This step removes the need for manual waveform adjustments, ensuring that recordings are correctly aligned from the start. Other settings include the makes sense for the session. These adjustments, which would normally take additional steps in a DAW are handled before the export. For projects that require sharing specifications with picture editors, EdiLoad includes an optimized edit list export guide, with a section now dedicated to DaVinci Resolve, ensuring that both departments are aligned on settings and formats. A More Efficient Way to Match Location WAV Files One of the most time-consuming aspects of dialogue editing is matching the edit list to the correct location WAV files. In an ideal world, metadata would be perfectly labeled, and everything would link automatically. In reality, files often arrive with missing or inconsistent data, making the process far less straightforward. EdiLoad v6 introduces two new match modes that address these inconsistencies: 1. Match by File. This mode analyzes the waveform of the guide track and compares it to each matched location WAV file, identifying the correct section within each file. This method proves useful when timecodes are missing in the edit list. 2. Match by Timecode. When edit lists contain no field recorder data, or when WAV files lack metadata, this mode organizes the location audio by time of day, then uses the guide track to select the right location WAV file from this short list narrowing down the possible matches. Both of these match modes complement the existing Align Waveform Window
