M OT I O N P I CTU R E S O U N D E D I TO R S I 15 2025 Speed Mentoring for MPSE, CAS & ACE Student Awards On February 15, 2025, we held our annual 2025 Speed Mentoring for the nominees for MPSE, CAS & ACE Student Awards. Student Award nominees participated online for one-on-one talks with veteran professionals from all three organizations. Thank you so much to the mentors who graciously donated their time for these very talented students. 2025 Cinema Audio Society Awards On Saturday, February 22, the Cinema Audio Society held its annual awards show for Outstanding Achievements in Sound Mixing. Awards were celebrated for sound mixing for both theatrical features and broadcast shows, including live-action, animated, and documentary categories. Also, CAS's prestigious Career Achievement Award was given to production mixer Tod A. Maitland and the Filmmaker Award given to director Denis Villeneuve. It was a wonderful show and a pleasure to attend. On Sunday, February 23, the Motion Picture Sound Editors held their annual awards show for Outstanding Achievements in Sound Editing. Awards were given out in 20 categories plus a Career Achievement Award to Mr. Greg Hedgepath MPSE and the Filmmaker Award given to Mr. Kevin Costner. The MPSE Student Award was given to Eugenio Mirafuentes from the Savannah College of Art and Design. Wilshire Ebell Theatre NAB 2025 From April 5 through April 9, Las Vegas will host this year's NAB show. Unfortunately, this article will go to press before the NAB Show event happens, so stay tuned in the next issue. We will have updates and pictures.
