3 0 P E R S P E C T I V E M A R C H / A P R I L 2 0 2 5 The Residence is a screwball whodunit unfolding within the intricate web of the White House, with every corridor, alcove and shadow steeped in intrigue. While films like The American President, White House Down and Jackie highlighted sections of the Executive Mansion, this series demanded an almost complete recreation. Every nook and cranny of the world's most iconic mansion becomes a stage for its eclectic and enigmatic staff as they race to solve the mystery. Netflix fully embraced the ambitious scale, recognizing the White House as a central character in the story. The required level of detail and grandeur was immense, but they understood that immersing the audience was key to honoring the narrative. The Backstory The storyline shifts focus to the often- overlooked staff, bringing them out of the shadows and into the spotlight, navigating the iconic public spaces, along with the hidden corridors and backstairs.
