M O T I O N P I C T U R E S O U N D E D I T O R S 72 N D A N N UA L M PS E GO L D E N R E E L AWA R DS I 7 PRESIDENT'S WELCOME For the 72nd consecutive year, the Motion Picture Sound Editors proudly celebrate YOU and the sonic artistry you have created and shared with the world in 2024. On behalf of the Board of Directors, I offer our heartfelt congratulations to all the nominees this evening. Simply receiving a nomination is an enormous accomplishment, and I hope you've relished it with family members, friends, and colleagues. The real win is that we continue to pursue our passion and creativity, enhancing and telling stories through sound. And you have done so under trying times for our industry and, most recently, the entire Southern California community. January 2025 was devastating for so many friends and colleagues. Those tragic events also revealed the inner character of our sound community, our entertainment community, and our friends and neighbors in the Los Angeles area and beyond. The heroic efforts of the first responders and the outpouring of volunteers and donations were like nothing I've ever seen. That spirit must and will continue to persevere as lives, homes, and industry are rebuilt. Our Board of Directors is simply the best in the business. Their tireless efforts bring you all you love about the MPSE and more. This past year, we've sponsored local, cross-country, and international sound events and hosted epic MPSE Presents events in Los Angeles and New York City. We've invited the entire filmmaking community to join us there to simply enjoy some of the most epic soundtracks in history. In 2025, we will reach even further, hosting more domestic and international events. Executive Director Tracie M. Costabile has streamlined and powered the organization to what it is today. Her love and dedication to the MPSE is palpable and contagious. I offer my sincerest thanks to Tracie and our Board for all they do. We are thrilled to honor Greg Hedgepath with the Career Achievement Award and Kevin Costner with our Honorary Filmmaker Award tonight. Greg and Kevin have pushed the bounds of cinema in their own unique ways. We are privileged to have lived in their era and are even more fortunate that they continue to create for us all to enjoy. The MPSE is proud to have them both with us tonight. Congratulations gentlemen! Finally, please enjoy this evening of celebration. Tonight is your night, and I congratulate you all on the outstanding and inspirational artistry you gave the world in 2024. David Barber President Motion Picture Sound Editors
