NOMINEES NOMINEES 56 I 72 N D A N N UA L M PS E GO L D E N R E E L AWA R DS CAREER ACHIEVEMENT AWARD Greg Hedgepath MPSE REG HEDGEPATH BEGAN his career more than 40 years ago and has brought his considerable talents to well over 100 films and television shows. His career trajectory started on the East Coast when he attended the University of Maryland. He would go on to earn his AA degree in electronics while working at National Public Radio in Washington, D.C. as a music mixer. After moving to the West Coast, Hedgepath landed one of the most coveted assignments in the sound industry, working at George Lucas' Skywalker Sound in Northern California. Having spent six successful years at Skywalker, Hedgepath then moved to Los Angeles and began working as a re-recording mixer at an independent post facility on the Universal lot. Hedgepath had gained a stellar reputation and eventually joined the union as a sound supervisor/editor at Sony Studios. Thanks to his contacts and reputation, Hedgepath was able to become an independent sound supervisor and sound designer whose talents were sought after by the industry's top executives. Hedgepath is responsible for some of the most iconic sounds in film. He designed the tornados for the original Twister, and also served as the sound designer on the original Speed, which won the Academy Award for sound, as well as the Golden Reel Award for Feature Effects/Foley. He has been nominated for a Golden Reel Award, an impressive eight times, and counts two wins, and was also nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award. Among Hedgepath's films and TV credits are iconic titles such as Disney's Frozen, The Incredible Hulk, The Hunger Games, Selma, Straight Outta Compton, Seal Team, Coming 2 America, and the recent hit, Candy Cane Lane.
