www.postmagazine.com 5 POST JAN/FEB 2025 BITS & PIECES DUNE: PART TWO HONORED FOR SOUNDTRACK The Association of Motion Picture Sound (www.amps.net), based in London, recently announced Warner Bros.'s Dune: Part Two as the winner of their 2025 "Excellence in Sound for a Feature Film" award. Polished bronze AMPS trophies will be awarded to Gareth John, AMPS; Tom Harrison, AMPS; Martin Kwok; Richard King, AMPS; Ron Bartlett; and Doug Hemphill. Now in its 12th year, the annual awards recognize multiple facets of the sound industry, including outstanding contributions from sound professionals who bring cinematic stories to life through the power of sound. The awards honor key roles, including production sound mixer, supervising dialogue/ ADR editor, supervising sound editor or sound designer, and re-recording mixer. Additionally, production sound mixers can nominate a key 1st assistant sound for exceptional contributions, ensuring all critical team members are acknowledged. The program honors creativity and dedication across five categories: Feature Film, Television Drama, Factual Film, Production and Post Production Audio Products. Last year's AMPS Feature Film Sound award winner, The Zone of Interest, also picked up the BAFTA and Oscar in the sound categories. "The sound for Dune: Part Two was astonishing and key to immersing the audience in Denis Villeneuve's expansive world of Arrakis," notes AMPS chair Andrew Wilson. "It is a deeply impressive piece of filmmaking demonstrating the power of sound as a storytelling device. From the power of the Sandworm ride to the tiniest grains drifting in the lightest of winds, the sound is detailed and nuanced, creating a memorable experience. AMPS is honored to recognize the work in sound of Gareth John, AMPS; Tom Harrison, AMPS; Martin Kwok; Richard King, AMPS; Ron Bartlett; Doug Hemphill and their sound teams." "We are deeply honored and humbled for the recognition and honoring of our film, Dune: Part Two," express members of the sound team. "We'd like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone at AMPS for this incredible award. This acknowledgment is especially meaningful because it comes from sound pro- fessionals — our peers and colleagues who understand the artistry and dedi- cation it takes to create immersive cinematic experiences. To be recognized by this distinguished group of experts is an extraordinary honor that means a lot and one we will always treasure." TRANSPORTED AUDIO + MUSIC OPENS MIX STAGE ON FOX LOT Transported Audio + Music (www.transportedaudio.com), a full-service post production audio and music composition studio in Burbank, CA, has opened Broken Arrow, a new mix stage situated on the historic Fox lot in Century City. The company, founded by Eric Marks and composer Daniel Berk, is celebrating its one-year anniversary, having worked with the likes of Toyota, Nike, Gatorade, EA, PlayStation, Riot Games, Epic Games, Prime Video and NFL Network. The new stage is equipped with 4K laser projection and theatrical seating for up to 12 guests, and is located in close proximity to Transported Audio + Music's ad agency, film/television production and video game clients. Broken Arrow is based inside a building that housed 20th Century Fox's post production facilities for over 90 years. Additionally, Broken Arrow is more than twice as large as Transported Audio + Music's stages in Burbank, which provide immersive sound design, dialogue cleanup, Foley and ADR/VO recording services. The new studio was created in response to increased demand from clients for premium-quality, multi-genre original and customized music. "Being located near the Westside of LA, we're excited to now better support ad agencies, game development teams and film clients," Marks explains. "While our sound and music teams have grown, it was always our goal to work more closely with our colleagues in commercials, as well as within the interactive space."
