2 S P R I N G 2 0 2 5 I C A S Q U A R T E R L Y As I write this, the fires in L.A. have subsided, but the damage is overwhelming. Weather conditions are predicted that could lead to more destruction. Many of our CAS members live in the area, and homes have been lost by several members, as well as others we work with. The CAS has made a significant donation to support the victims. These funds come from fees we receive from motion picture distributors sending emails for FYC advertising and screening opportunities, advertising in this issue and the awards program, and your membership dues. I suggest anyone reading this who has the resources, make a direct contribution of their own, whether financial or otherwise. We have also set up a Members Forum area in the Members Portal section of the CAS website which will allow members to discuss their needs, offer assistance, or check-in with friends and colleagues. In the future, we hope to continue to use these forums for any number of other purposes such as recording and mixing tips, volunteer opportunities, or just to chat with others who share similar concerns. By the time you receive this issue, instructions will have already been made available via email and on the CAS website. Even with all the crises, Awards Season goes on. We were, and are, underway with preparing for the 61st CAS Awards. I hope to see many of you there at the Beverly Hilton on February 22. It's our annual celebration of the excellent work of our members and others in the sound community. But it will also be a great opportunity to see your friends and colleagues in person over a meal and maybe a drink. Lots of social time will be provided. The show is also where we introduce the new CAS Board of Directors and show our appreciation for those who have volunteered their time to the organization. I hope each of you consider spending a term on the Board, and that more of you will sign up for our many opportunities to support the various events we host during the year, especially The Sounding Board v5.0 later in 2025. We intend to continue holding social and educational events in cities across the U.S. and other countries as well. If you are interested in hosting or helping with an event in your area, let us know. Meanwhile, enjoy this issue of CAS Quarterly with its great selection of articles, including an interview with our 2025 Career Achievement honoree, Tod A. Maitland CAS. If you attend the awards show, you can even interview him yourself! I hope to see you there! Peter F.
