cinematographer Phedon Papamichael was grateful for as it helped his exposure. Located in downtown Cape May, New Jersey, the four-story Viking Motel required extensive dressing, including sixty-five new exterior light fixtures, window mullions and a diving board. Four interior rooms were dressed and period patio furniture and vintage astro turf were added for authenticity. Dylan's suite at the Viking Motel was built on stage with a view of a custom backing printed by Roscoe that was shot in Cape May and then manipulated by the Art Department with added 1960s vehicles, signage and dressing, rendered in Blender. A Complete Unknown was an extraordinary journey and rewarding collaboration. My heartfelt thanks go out to my entire team for making this experience unforgettable. Our goal was to capture the essence of the early 1960s and the profound impact of Greenwich Village on Dylan's rise. The entire team—Art Department, set decoration, construction and props—poured their hearts into recreating the world that both shaped and was shaped by Bob Dylan. Special thanks to my tireless Supervising Art Director Chris Morris, set decorator Regina Graves for her exceptional eye for detail, property master Michael Jortner for sourcing period instruments and vintage automobiles, and lead scenic Alex Gorodetsy for leading a team of talented painters. I hope this project serves as a testament to the role of setting in storytelling and the impact of crafting environments that resonate with emotion. Our goal was to capture the essence of the era, immersing the audience in the dynamic and transformative world of Dylan's early career—a time of profound change in America. ADG E.
