storefronts into various businesses. For a "walk and talk" culminating at a revival theater showing Now, Voyager, I convinced Mangold to recreate a theater modeled after the 8th Street Playhouse, a former movie house in Greenwich Village. The set dressers installed a custom marquee onto a vacant facade, which was a challenge given Paterson's narrow sidewalks and sloped streets. Additionally, they weren't allowed to drill into the facade, so the entire structure had to be suspended from a rock- and-roll truss extending from a window above. Little City Books in Hoboken became a 1960s record shop that I pushed to name "Music Inn" as an homage Dylan's local record shop. The Music Inn is unique as it opened in the 1950s and remains open for business to this day. We built one hundred and fifty custom record boxes which were filled with six thousand records, and decorators added layers of real vintage minutia. A vintage jukebox played in a corner and we built a few listening booths where customers could sample the latest tunes. A vinyl record collector himself, Mangold remarked, "I could live here," upon entering the set. The exterior of Dylan's 4th Street apartment and an adjacent television repair shop were filmed in Hoboken. We dressed an entire building with six apartments for a scene where Dylan espies his neighbors all watching President Kennedy's televised 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis address. The setup evoked James Stewart's view of his neighbors in Hitchcock's Rear Window. 60 x 20" PRINTED VINYL FOR TRANSOM 27 x41" POSTER FOR DISPLAY CASE 20x60" POSTER FOR DISPLAY CASE 20x5" FOR DISPLAY CASE H. 8TH STREET PLAYHOUSE EXTERIOR.
