Also, 2020 was an extremely polarizing year and on hearing of a biopic about Ronald Reagan, I immediately felt nervous. My husband and I had moved to Guthrie, Oklahoma and found ourselves in a sea of corn fields, my home city of Minneapolis was in crisis after senseless police violence, and the country seemed more divided than ever. I wondered how audiences in 2020 would react to a biopic about Reagan. When I read the script, I was originally floored at how much it covered, in timespan but also in content. In the entire script I didn't see any mention of AIDS. Would this film be propaganda or would it be poignant?
