more than one main contact and at this point in
my career, I don't want to be exclusive to just one
person. Am I making a mistake to risk losing Jon
for Judd? Help me!!
Signed,
Is Variety the Spice of Life
Dear Spice,
Your signature says it all! Variety is the spice
of life. You are facing a dilemma that all of us
in the film business one day encounter. Let's
look at the bottom line. Your regular is out of
town and you are out of work. Now, "Judd"
comes into the picture and offers you an
opportunity to go back to work. Remember,
you are working in show BUSINESS! This means
earning money to be able to pay the rent and
keep the wind off you! I do not know "Jon," but
I am sure he cannot fault you for wanting to
work especially when he took a job out of the
country so that he could work. Are you risking
falling out of the loop with Jon? Unfortunately,
yes. But that's show business! Over the course
of your career, you will often find yourself in
this situation. Sometimes you move on never
to hear from that person again but often
that person will remember you as a first-rate
Property Master and call you again in the future
when the opportunity arises. I have gotten the
call from producers I have not heard from in
years and as soon as we got back together,
it was like we were never apart. Be glad your
problem is getting offered work and go get
'em!
