A milestone for Property Masters was the 1st Annual MacGuffin Awards on September 14, 2024, the first time Property Masters were eligible for any award in the history of the film, television, and commercial production industry. With more than 400 guests from around the globe, including Property Masters, craft and community members from the United Kingdom, Canada, and Poland, the sold-out event united the craft in a way never before achieved. Never before have Property Masters, their crews, and their peers come together to celebrate the artistic achievements of their craft, highlighting the highest level of excellence a Property Master can create in film, television, and commercial production. If you're unfamiliar with the term, a MacGuffin is an object, usually a prop, in filmmaking that drives the story forward. The term was originally popularized by Alfred Hitchcock, and further developed by George Lucas, and has become a staple among an industry of storytelling. Artistically, MacGuffins often become iconic props in their own right. From the Ark of the Covenant in Raiders of the Lost Ark to the Heart of the Ocean in Titanic to the Infinity Stones in Avengers: Infinity War, MacGuffins can be larger-than-life, even taking center stage as characters in the story. As the brainchild of Property Master Brad Elliott, the MacGuffin Awards became the perfect moniker to speak to an artistically heavy craft for their contribution to the iconography of cinema. And boy, did the work of Property Masters deliver that evening!
