6 • LMGI COMPASS | Winter 2025 CONTRIBUTORS Chris Evans Chris Evans has been a film and TV journalist and editor for 25 years, covering locations and production, most recently as location editor of Screen International and KFTV. He has lived and worked in many countries, including Chile, where he was editor of the Santiago Times. His experience there was tempered somewhat, though, by being chased to the office each day by rabid dogs! Evans enjoys interviewing a variety of people in the screen sector, from gaffers and location scouts to A-list directors and actors. He can take his hand to everything from snappy news stories to big reports on key trending subjects, like virtual production and sustainability. He's also easy to spot on location at two meters tall! JJ Levine/LMGI LA-based location manager JJ Levine was raised on indie films, art and love. A free spirit at heart, she held many unusual positions prior to finding herself in locations, including polo groom, scrap gold buyer, development executive for Columbia Television and TNT, high-tech project manager, freelance writer, and brand/public relations guru promoting tourism and luxury wines. Whether it's for a feature film, a television series or commercial, Levine immerses herself in story, character and culture in order to bring authenticity to each project. She loves photography and enjoys meeting a wide variety of people through location work. When she isn't working, you can find her in her art studio or at the dog park or beach with her canine companions. Michael Wesley/LMGI LA-based LM Michael Wesley has been working in locations for close to 30 years. He started his career with the Arizona Film Commission developing an old school database of statewide locations and assisting scouting for productions filming locally such as Jerry Maguire and What Planet Are You From? He has been a member of the LMGI for more than two decades and is currently serving on the Board of Directors. Wesley has taught a masterclass in location scouting and managing in cooperation with Cine Paseio and the Cultural Foundation of Curitiba in Brazil. Some of Wesley's credits include Transformers 2, 3 & 4, Inception, The Dark Knight Rises, Booksmart and The Terminal List. The world of location scouting for movies is his lifetime passion. He is always exploring and having access to privileged places and finding new and interesting settings to tell a story is a dream come true. Shaun O'Banion Shaun O'Banion is a Gotham Award-winning producer currently living and working in Prague, Czech Republic. He has written articles for MovieMaker Magazine, Filmmaker Magazine and is a regular contributor on Stage32.com
