30 SAG-AFTRA | Fall/Winter 2024 | sagaftra.org For Members Crabtree-Ireland and Iraqi delegates on Aug. 29 SAG-AFTRA Meets With Iraqi Delegation S AG-AFTRA National Executive Director & Chief Negotiator Duncan Crabtree- Ireland and Chief Administrative Officer & Executive Counsel Will Bensussen hosted a visit with a delegation from Iraq at SAG-AFTRA Plaza in Los Angeles on Aug. 29. The visit, arranged as part of the U.S. Department of State's International Visitor Leadership Program, provided an opportunity for the delegation to learn more about intellectual property enforcement. Crabtree-Ireland and Bensussen discussed the United States' protection of intellectual property within the public, private and legal sectors, and the infrastructure of its enforcement systems. The delegation also learned about the impact of IP enforcement toward protecting indigenous and minority groups and small businesses. Graise Honored With Union's Russell Award S AG-AFTRA member and actor-director Eric Graise was honored during the 2024 Media Access Awards on Oct. 29. The Tomorrow War actor was the recipient of the SAG-AFTRA Harold Russell Award, which recognizes an individual whose work and career in media has substantially contributed to the overall awareness of the disability experience. For the second year in a row, the ceremony, presented in partnership with Easterseals Disability Services, aired nationally on PBS affiliates. Co-founded by SAG-AFTRA, the AFL-CIO and AFL-CIO Tech Institute, the two-day conference focuses on the intersection of technology and the nature of work, with input from labor union leaders, public figures and subject-matter experts about the opportunities and challenges today's workforce face with emerging technologies. SAG-AFTRA National Executive Director & Chief Negotiator Duncan Crabtree-Ireland, who has been at the forefront of the union's efforts on A.I., will be among the event's speakers. The summit will also coincide with CES 2025, considered the world's largest technology showcase. SAG-AFTRA Executive Vice President Linda Powell and AFL-CIO President Liz Shuler at the 2024 Labor Innovation & Technology Summit in Las Vegas.
