M OT I O N P I CTU R E S O U N D E D I TO R S 61 Park were some of the first ones that really made me aware of the sonic wonders of blockbuster cinema. The work of Gary Rydstrom is simply incredible and later on in the 1990s, the work of Ren Klyce felt like a total game changer. I watched Se7en seven times in the cinema! David Lynch was another early influence. Twin Peaks came out just when I became a teenager, and I remember how it just blew my mind and Wild at Heart and Lost Highway are two of my all-time favorite experiences in the cinema. The bold use of subjective, abstract, expressive sound was incredible. Lynch's sonic aesthetic and early collaborations with Alan Splet and Ann Kroeber have been incredibly inspiring to me. I later became friends with Ann who helped me with sounds for several of my projects and came to Denmark and visited me a couple of times. She passed away in July and I miss her dearly. She was such a kind, creative soul. A lot of my favorite directors in film history have been really into sound—Sergio Leone, Francis Ford Coppola, Andrei Tarkovsky, Stanley Kubrick, Terrence Malick, David Fincher, Peter Weir, the Coens, and Jacques Tati, to mention just a few—but we live in a great era for film sound as nowadays, there are so many awesome directors who really use sound as an integrated part of their storytelling. Some of my most cherished films and Peter with Danish filmmaker Christina Rosendahl, 2024. The Idealist mix in 2015: main actor Peter Plaugborg, director Christina Rosendahl, mixer Lars Ginzel, sound designer Peter Albrechtsen.
