Photo by Povl Lystrup Thomsen Greetings, MPSE members, and welcome to this year's International Edition of Wavelength! 'Tis the season for gatherings and events, submissions and nominations, awards and celebrations—and for honoring our MPSE members around the globe! This year has been one of remarkable growth for the MPSE, including an expanding international presence. We now have members in 42 countries across six of the world's seven continents (Antarctica being the only holdout, but we're optimistic it's only a matter of time!). One of our most exciting areas of growth has been in sponsorships and events. The MPSE Sound Advice series has evolved into MPSE Presents, and in 2024, for the first time ever, we took these events beyond Los Angeles to New York City (where we celebrated the 25th anniversary of The Matrix for our NYC members), Berkeley, California (marking Fight Club's 25th anniversary), London ( hosting a Tonebenders Sound Design Meet Up), and Toronto, Ontario (where we sponsored a second Tonebenders Meet Up—this event will take place after the publication of this edition). We also had the pleasure of sponsoring Sonic Days, a two-day sound design conference in Kolding, Denmark. These achievements are milestones we're incredibly proud of, and we look forward to offering even more inspiring and educational events to our members in 2025. Detailed recaps of these events are available in this issue. We are also excited to feature Wavelength's international cover story on one of the busiest and most influential sound designers in the industry today, Peter Albrechtsen from Copenhagen, Denmark. Heading down under, MPSE member and Wavelength contributor Jenny Ward in Sydney brings us not one, but six fascinating profiles of Foley artists based in New South Wales—including award-winning Foley veterans Les Fiddess, John Simpson, and Adrian Medhurst. These articles and more are just pages away! I also look forward to seeing many of you at our 72nd Annual Golden Reel Awards, which will be held at the beautiful, historic Wilshire Ebell Theatre in Los Angeles on February 23, 2025. Wishing our members worldwide steady work, good health, a wonderful holiday season, and peace and joy in 2025. G'day from Sydney! MPSE President David Barber and family happened to be down under a few weeks ago and could not pass up the opportunity to meet up with Sydney resident Soundies Meeting Soundies and MPSE Board member, Stuart Morton and family, for some cheers and a good time. L-R: David, Kaia, Haylee, Bella, Monica, and Stuart
