102 M PS E . O R G proud of what we achieved and grateful for the opportunity to be part of it. When I first started in the industry, I felt completely out of my depth. I remember struggling to figure out how to open a Pro Tools session, and it felt like I was constantly trying to catch up. Looking back at my major work during TAFE, it's quite embarrassing to admit that I recorded each footstep individually. At the time, I thought it was the right approach, but now I can't help but chuckle at how naive I was. Fast-forward to now, after nearly 12 years in the industry, and I'm still learning something new with every project. The world of Foley is constantly evolving, and each new project presents its own set of challenges and opportunities for growth. I've come to appreciate that every sound effect, no matter how seemingly straightforward, requires a fresh approach and creative thinking and the learning never stops. In between projects? I find pure joy in just going for walks. I love walking! There's something incredibly soothing about getting my sneakers on and heading out the door. Walking helps clear my mind and boost my mental health, providing a refreshing break from work and home life. It's amazing how something so simple can be so revitalizing. One of my favourite hobbies to do is geocaching. I adore the excitement of getting in the car with my kids, driving to different locations, and hunting for hidden geocaches. It's a fantastic way to spend quality time together, keeping us all active and engaged. It's not just about the treasure hunt; it's about the shared experiences and adventures we enjoy as a family. These activities not only help me decompress but also strengthen our family bonds and keep us all connected with nature and each other. And then there's cooking. Growing up with both my parents as chefs, I developed a deep love for being in the kitchen. Cooking is my ultimate stress buster. I turn the music up loud, let myself sing and dance around the kitchen, and lose myself in the process of creating something delicious. It's a fantastic way to unwind and is both a creative outlet and a relaxing ritual. And I've got a pretty mean caramel slice recipe too, after many, MANY trials and errors.
