LMGI COMPASS | Fall 2024 • 15 best practices as managers; effective communication with the community, production and your team; new technology and how to utilize it; and the evolving logistics of a growing city/ state. We don't get very many opportunities to learn directly from each other outside of these LMGI events. It's easy to focus narrowly on the demands of whatever show you might be working on at any particular time, but these events help us to connect and create synergy among location managers globally. It's our job to consider topics specific to one production when we're on the clock, and it's our responsibility to address the big picture topics on volunteered time; the LMGI provides a valuable forum for those important conversations." The last panel led an open discussion on "Ethics in Location Management," led by Gordon, Andrea Keener/ LMGI and Mike Riley. Said Keener, "Mac Gordon and Nicole Robinson at Stone Mountain put together a great event last week. I was honored to be a part of the ethics panel, along with Mike Riley and Mac. We had a thoughtful discussion overall with some very interesting and specific topics brought up that often go unspoken and exist in what folks call 'a gray area." To my knowledge, this was the first panel on this topic done in Georgia and I hope there will be more like it in the future." Summed up Gordon, "Everything went really well. We had approximately 50 people in classes and added another 10 or so for the afternoon socializing time after lunch. I had arranged for several vendors to come and set up at the pavilion. After lunch, we all walked down to enjoy the day, the good company, seeing old friends and drinking some beers. Our vendors included many stalwart supporters of LMGI like Reel Security, Classic Tents & Events, STS Traffic Control, T3 RENTALS, Downtown Hilton, Candler Hotel and HERC. PPS Permit Service and Traffic Control made a debut, as did America's Mart, city of Brookhaven, Steve Kennedy of Kennedy Location Services and Ardilla Cleaning Services. Everyone enjoyed the socializing and networking opportunity, and many expressed hope for more such gatherings from the LMGI. We also hope to record some of these panels in the future for use by our national and international members."
