the charge with the prop makers, metal fabricators and scenics to execute the finished set. Glass Key Between Miami and Key West, forty-four islands are strung together by the Route 1 Overseas Highway. This was to become the reimagined world of this updated Road House film. Glass Key was a fictional island conceived to be nestled at the end of the famous Seven Mile Bridge, where we would find the remains of a once-thriving, small- town community. Doug was looking to establish a visual look that complemented the stuck-in-time narrative of an old world, well-established family of hustlers and felons who were out for blood as they tried to expand their real estate holdings. Given that the Dominican Republic did not fit our vision, I scouted the Florida Keys to absorb the unique elements of its vibrant local culture. My journey from Miami to Key West unveiled a collection of old-world Florida aesthetics from the '60s and '70s, which inspired the setting for Hurricane Street in the script. I discovered that traditional town centers or "main streets" do not exist in the keys. Instead, businesses are scattered along the Overseas Highway. So, what was called Hurricane Street would now be transformed into a side- of-the-road strip mall defined by its isolation on the remote key. F. GLASS KEY BRIDGE. ILLUSTRATION. G.
