BABY REINDEER
An aspiring comic becomes the target of both an obsessed
stalker and a sexual predator. Ordinary London pubs,
bars, comedy clubs, and lonely nighttime walks in an
unassuming residential neighborhood become menacing and
claustrophobic as his life spirals out of control. A gig at the
Edinburgh Festival Fringe offers hope but eventually leads to
an on-stage breakdown at the Rivoli Ballroom, a stunning yet
horror-like 1930's venue. The Aylesbury Housing Estate is as
threatening as the stalker, while a sprawling house meant to be
a safe haven becomes as unsettling as the disturbing events
depicted in this psychological thriller about obsession, buried
trauma and the struggle to overcome the dark side of human
behavior.
FEUD: CAPOTE VS. THE SWANS
Set in the 1950s to the '70s, this period piece
dramatizes the fallout between Truman Capote and
his high-society circle of NY friends, "The Swans,"
whom he betrays by using their secrets as material
for his unfinished novel. Capote's iconic 1966 Black
and White Ball is recreated at both Manhattan's
Plaza Hotel and the grand Beaux Arts-inspired
Lamar house. A perfect match for the Paley's Long
Island estate was found in Locust Valley, and a
recently closed Brooks Brothers department store
played for Bonwit Teller, transporting our ladies
on a period-appropriate wooden elevator up two
floors for high-end shopping. Filmed mostly in the Greater New York Area, with a short stop in Los
Angeles, the locations lend authenticity and depth to this true-life story of immense wealth, strict
social codes and unforgivable betrayal.
GRISELDA
This bio-pic chronicles the ascent and eventual downfall of
notorious drug lord Griselda Blanco in the male-dominated
drug trafficking world of 1970s and '80s Miami. Filmed in
Los Angeles, San Pedro and Long Beach for retro Colombia
and Miami, the bright sunny city belies the dark underbelly
of a burgeoning and dangerous drug culture. Gritty urban
landscapes reflect the characters' violent and brutal reality,
while seedy motels, period diners and deco mansions replicate
a Miami of the past.
The Queen Mary's ballroom and the Pacific
Palms Hotel serve as Miami's infamous Mutiny Hotel's lavish
nightclub where the cartel bosses hold court, while Griselda's
evolving living conditions—from a grimy motel to a decaying
Benedict Canyon mansion as her Palm Beach retreat, to a well-
protected compound replicated in Long Beach—symbolize her
rise in the criminal hierarchy as "the Godmother."
