were able to shoot a car chase through a gauntlet of sand canyons
culminating in a 225-plus-foot car jump performed by Holladay, and
a 150-foot fall from a helicopter onto a bag that measured just 25
feet by 50 feet performed by stuntman Troy Brown.
THAT'S A WRAP!
Filming on The Fall Guy began in October 2022 and wrapped in
March of 2023. Altogether, the company spent some 60 of 82 days
on location.
Other locations used in the film were the Sydney Opera
House and Bennelong Point, the Sydney Marina and specifically,
Rushcutters Bay and Walsh Bay for an 80-foot boat jump and
explosion, the harbourside in Barangaroo, and Piers 19 through
21 at Jones Bay Wharf.
After this hugely successful shoot, the government is already
asking when the next big film is coming in.
"We really raised the bar," says Watts, "and we definitely
did things that hadn't been done before. In fact, we might have
done some things that will never be done again, but I was very
encouraged by the level of support from government agencies to
make it happen."
In interviews during the press tour for the film, Kelly McCormick
said of shooting in Australia, "Phillip Roope holds the keys to the
kingdom."
For his part, Roope deflects, "That's gross hyperbole and I fear it
might be more of a curse than a blessing! The truth of it is that it was
a team effort to get some of these things across the line. I'm really
proud of what we accomplished. We just had a marvelous team."
