BY CHRISTOPHER REEVES MPSE IMMORTALITY A conversation with Kevin Senzaki MPSE Immortality is the 2022 recipient of the MPSE Golden Reel for Outstanding Achievement in Sound Editing - Game Dialogue/ADR. Immortality is also one of the most distinctive video games in recent memory. The game revolves around the disappearance of an actress who only made three films. Working with only "found footage" of the films and interviews, the player must solve the mystery of her disappearance by scrolling through the footage looking for clues. The game has a unique soundscape for a video game. The footage is all live action and, for the most part, in dailies form. This gives the game sound production and post production more in common with traditional scripted media workflow than with most video games. With that in mind, I wanted to discuss with Kevin Senzaki MPSE, the audio lead responsible for most of the dialogue audio design, editing and recording, the comparative differences of Immortality's dialogue workflow. To my chagrin, I discovered that Immortality was his first video game project. So in a pivot, I decided to explore how Kevin has gotten to this point in his career. In some degree, giving him in some small part, his own immortality. M OT I O N P I CTU R E S O U N D E D I TO R S 151
