We had previews in Berkeley for the producers and crew without some knowing what had occurred with the lead actress. By the time we had finished the mix, I estimated we had ADR or dubbed approximately 60%-70% of the film's dialogue. People involved had no idea. If they don't notice, we've done our job. When mixed into a scene, good ADR is a kind of magic that to this day gives me goose bumps on the mix stage. As I interviewed Vinod for this article, he relayed to me that, 1) he had never seen the final product and, 2) he was still waiting for that call to do ADR with Niyar in India! He had no idea we had replaced Niyar's Lakshmi character. His first knowledge of it was when I reached out to him in early 2024! IR's had saved the day, but honestly, I feel Vinod had saved the day. Vinod is now an educator, mentor, and advocate. It was great connecting with him again and I applaud him for sharing his story with me. It wasn't an easy shoot by any means and I feel he might have purposefully forgotten what had occurred 10 years ago. We will now connect and share ideas on mixing and film sound education and I hope to see him sometime in the near future. Vinod didn't have Altiverb. He never really heard his IR's applied to anything because to this day, he still hasn't seen
