Treasurer Mary Rae Thewlis PAC Leadership Council Treasurer Oz Scott After reporting on the Guild's work to tackle other challenges such as protecting our stream of residuals payments through active enforcement, ensuring inclusive hiring practices in our industry, and our decades long effort to combat runaway production, Barclay turned his eyes to the future and recognized the team that will lead us there including DGA President Lesli Linka Glatter, the officers of the Guild and the National Board members, the leadership of the AD/UPM and AD/SM/PA Councils and the Outreach Team that keeps members directly informed. "We have an amazing group of leaders looking out for us – the literally hundreds of DGA elected and appointed members representing all categories, genres and geographic regions who volunteer their time and energy to be part of the Guild's leadership. And they all deserve our profound thanks. Our incredible leadership is not limited to our members. I'd also like to recognize and thank the other half of the team – our terrific professionals who support our 19,500 members, led by the brilliant Russ Hollander. Thank you, Russ for your strong and thoughtful leadership to protect the future for us all. "Even with all the great creative and economic rights we have today, it takes initiative and vision to imagine and fight for a better future for Directors and their teams. Each one of you can be the instruments of change. The DGA as an institution can only enforce what you fight to protect. This building can't change culture – it takes people – individuals in all our categories – to change the culture. It now falls to all of us to carry on the incredible legacy of those who came before us in this Guild. If you're new to the Guild, or as old as time like me, we want you to be the change we need. We need you to keep aiming high and building a future for everyone. "I'll conclude with a quote from our late great DGA leader Carl Weathers. He said, 'You can't change the past, but you can shape the future.' To all of you who have done it, and to all of you who will, we say… Thank you." In addition to Barclay's State-of-the-Guild report, attendees of the New York meeting also heard a special address from DGA National Vice President Laura Belsey that covered items of specific interest to members in the Eastern Region.
