72 S U M M E R 2 0 2 4 I C A S Q U A R T E R L Y ANNOUNCEMENTS The Cinema Audio Society has set its timeline for the 61st Annual CAS Awards, which will take place on Saturday, February 22, 2025. • The entry submission form will be available online on Thursday, October 17, 2024, on the CAS website at www.cinemaaudiosociety.org. • Entry Submissions Due Online – 5 p.m. PT, Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2024 • Nomination Ballot Voting Begins Online – Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2024 • Nomination Ballot Voting Ends Online – 5 p.m. PT, Thursday, Jan. 2, 2025 Mark Ulano CAS just returned from Prague, CZ, teaching a two- week workshop, "Telling the Story with Sound," to graduate cinema students at FAMU University. Karol Urban CAS MPSE just completed the horror feature Not Another Deaf Story and feature documentary In a Wintry Season and is busy starting on a new dramatic thriller. Marc Fishman CAS and Danielle Dupre CAS wrapped mixing The Sympathizer for HBO/Team Downey and director Park Chan-wook at Formosa Hollywood on Stage 6. Bob Bronow CAS recently wrapped Hitler and the Nazis: Evil on Trial. In addition to the difficulty of the subject matter, most of the audio was recorded 80 years ago! Mathew Price CAS is in New York working on his second film with Jennifer Lopez, the US unit of Kiss of the Spider Woman, directed by Bill Condon. With him is boom op Ken Strain and utility Spyros Poulos. This summer, they move onto the NY unit of Dan and Amy Sherman-Palladino's Étoile, their first project since Mrs. Maisel, a contemporary ballet-themed drama for Prime. Jon Taylor CAS and Frank Montano have been busy mixing on back-to-back projects Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, Monkey Man, and new sports biopic Unstoppable at the Hitchcock Theater with sound supervisor Andrew DeCristofaro and crew. BEEN THERE DONE THAT & THE LIGHTER SIDE On April 13, CAS hosted a Mixers Mixer in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Members and industry professionals gathered at the Sawmill Market for a lively evening of networking and discussions, along with dinner and drinks. 61ST CAS AWARDS TIMELINE Peter F. Kurland CAS just completed work on Ethan Coen's Honey, Don't!, along with Randy Johnson and Rie Nasu. Amanda Beggs CAS is beyond grateful to be back at work. The new year started with Season 2 of Shrinking, reuniting the incredible crew of boom op Ben Wienert, and utilities Saif Parkar and Yisel Pupo Calles. Schedules changed and shifted massively due to the strikes, and she had to leave Shrinking early to head to Albuquerque, NM, for a movie that had been postponed for almost a year. Currently enjoying spring in NM, with her crew of boom op Eva Rismanforoush and utility Steve Willer. Rick Santizo CAS and mix partner Alex Gruzdev have been mixing Walker Season 4 on Dub 12 at WB. They also wrapped the final season of Sweet Tooth, the Emmy-winning series from Netflix. Devendra Cleary CAS finished some pickups at Santa Clarita Studios and additional photography for a new Lucasfilm show under the codename 'Grammar Rodeo' with Chris "Catfish" Walmer and Alexis Schafer. He is back in L.A. prepping for a new Hulu show, Untitled Orphan Project with Chris Walmer on boom, Milton Kingsley Cheng on as utility, and Naola Greaves (photo below).
