M AY / J U N E 2 0 2 4 | P E R S P E C T I V E 3 1 Laurel Brock Laurel Brock was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, and grew up in Houston, Texas, receiving a BA from the University of Texas at Austin. Laurel is an Art Director and Graphic Designer based in Los Angeles; with over fifteen years of experience working in the entertainment industry, she is a member of Local 800, the Art Directors Guild. Laurel's credits include art directing such television shows as The Wonder Years (2021), Abbott Elementary and Black-ish. Laurel has a wide variety of experience working in television and film, and loves getting paid to "play make- believe" for a living. Keola is a follow-up to Laurel's first comic, PANDAdemic, both within a subgenre she's coined "Modern Historical Fiction from the Point of View of Animals." Laurel enjoys telling historical fiction and autobiographical stories with a comedic bent. She finds that truth is in fact, generally stranger than fiction. When she's not writing about the love life of the Laysan albatross or the mating practices of the Giant Panda, Laurel spends her time running, practicing yoga or hanging out with her animals.
