Using a relatively new MacBook Pro and FINALLY sitting down to write out some thoughts, taking a break from the bleak emptiness of post-strike Hollywood, it occurs to me that I don't even know what program people use anymore to type a document. Pages? I guess… Fine. If you think that this task seems un-daunting you are correct. The fact that I cannot connect to a simple document-creating program is a small problem. Putting me at the spears tip of a giant, high-tech, post-heavy behemoth of a Netflix über-event called Avatar: The Last Airbender, is a big PROBLEM. But let's start at the beginning. I watched the wildly popular Nickelodeon animated series before I had the meeting with the show runner. (I have learned that being familiar with the material your show is based on can be very helpful. And I had time.) It became immediately clear that this was going to be challenging for several reasons, not the least of which was that this base material was animation.
