It is already June with the summer solstice officially peeking upon us here in the Northern Hemisphere. This is the month when summer and winter shake hands as they officially exchange hemispheres for the next several months. I am having a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that we are already six months into 2024! I can tell you, there has been little rest between planning, prepping, and delivering for MPSE Wavelength, plus our live-event planning coast to coast while still staying on schedule with our primary occupations. We are so excited about all of it! Stay tuned to our social media and email for exciting updates. In the meantime, Wavelength is showcasing a great variety of articles and reviews that are sure to captivate you over the next couple of months, whether by poolside or the warmth of a crackling fireplace, depending on which side of the equator you are on. We are delighted to feature music editors Sharyn Gersh MPSE and Amber Funk MPSE of Create Harmony Media on the cover and in an interview with Perry La Marca MPSE for our summer quarterly. 3D sound designer Oliver Kadel MPSE shares an incredibly fascinating article about his expertise in immersive media. Oliver has delivered more than 200 projects of spatial and interactive audio for VR, MR, AR, and 180°/360° films. We also have another terrific article from Jenny Ward MPSE, featuring the 25-year career of professional 1st assistant sound editor Andrew Bock and his working relationship with sound designer Richard King. Vickie Sampson MPSE shares her experience working with all Deaf actors in ADR on the movie Not Another Deaf Story. Wait, what?! There is a lot more to discover in our summer issue of Wavelength and as always, I hope you find these articles entertaining, enlightening, educating, and inspiring. *Hans Friedrich August Carste was a German composer and conductor who composed film music, as well as songs for the stage.
