I look forward to celebrating the achievements of all tonight's nominees, to our Career Achievement honoree Joe Earle CAS, and to our Filmmaker Award recipient J.J. Abrams. Each of these honored guests has helped to advance the art of sound for motion picture and television. For those nominees who take home an award, my congratulations! For those who do not, your work is very much appreciated, and you should be proud for being nominated with this illustrious group of mixers. To those in our audience who also pursue excellence in our common work, your contributions are appreciated no less for not having been selected this year. Keep up the great work and I hope to see you as nominees in future awards. This year, we have a new venue for the awards with an incredible history, including the Golden Globes since 1961, the Grammys in 1959, the Oscar Nominees Luncheon in many years, and too many other shows to count. Now it's our turn. We celebrate our own 60-year history this year, acknowledging the contributions of our past award winners, past presidents, and those members who have gone before us. I'd like to take a moment to thank the outgoing members of our Board of Directors who have helped our organization to grow, and to also thank the ones who continue with us. I'm especially excited for our new Board members who will be introduced tonight. Their willingness to volunteer their time and efforts to keep the CAS vibrant and to bring fresh energy and ideas will make this an even better organization for years to come. Along with our Board and Officers, every member has an opportunity to contribute. Our many committees, (including the hardworking Awards Committee putting on the show tonight) have need of additional participants and your efforts would be valuable.
