almost certain that he was indeed the one who provided the scream. ANNA: Though the story was compelling, beyond some anecdotal evidence, it would be impossible to definitively say whether or not Sheb is the screamer. I even contacted Sheb's daughter Chrystie, who said that the scream sounds just like her dad, but it bothered me not to know "for sure." The impossibility of confirmation inspired me to look into forensic vocal analysis. I tracked down a researcher at Carnegie Mellon University at the forefront of this science and I've been working with her to use advanced vocal analysis to help confirm or deny the Sheb Wooley theory. We've made some very exciting progress and I can't wait to share our findings in this documentary... STEVE: We will know, with 99.9% certainty, who performed the original Wilhelm Scream. ANNA: Our first goal is to make an amazing short film out of all of this. The bulk of the footage has been shot but I'm planning to shoot some additional creative visuals, as well as some follow-up Zoom interviews with a couple of subjects. Once I have a rough version I'm happy with, I will begin the process of clearing all archival and then finally working with a sound mixer and colorist to polish everything up. I'm extremely grateful that the current Fair Use guidelines will allow us to work with archival from movies mentioned in the story, but I will need to make sure the footage is adequately transformed and meets all guidelines safely. There's a lot of work ahead of me but my enthusiasm for this story is pushing me through! STEVE: I'm thrilled with all the work Anna has done. It's going to be a really fun piece. We hope to have it ready for release in spring/summer 2024! Keep listening!
