HROUGH OUR TRAVELS in post-production sound careers, we cross paths with many other audio professionals. All have their own unique journey, yet we all share a love and curiosity for vibrating airwaves. Murat Celikkol MPSE is a supervising sound editor, ADR and re-recording mixer who joined me on the path of post sound for the final season of Ted Lasso. He was integral to the ADR process as 'boots on the ground' in-studio with talent at Sound Disposition in London, as I was remote from Los Angeles. His instincts and sensibilities in helping me choose takes to comp, deftness with editorial, and easy interaction with the actors inspired me to find out more about his unique journey that brought us together. Hailing from Turkey, Murat studied in the Yildiz Technical University's audio design program, while working a job and cultivating a relationship with his future wife, Mine. "At the time we started going out, my life was very crazy. Trying to study while working … life was full, every moment was super full. I don't know how I managed it," Murat said. Five years passed, at which time he and Mine married. "I guess she accepted life as the spouse of a busy post-sound person by then. She works in the hospitality industry, which is quite a different field. So far, we've managed to balance work and family life.
