Moderated by Jasmine Alexia Jackson, the discussion resonated deeply with both the panelists and the audience, evoking emotions tied to the beloved film franchise. The meaningful exchanges and audience questions underscored the dedication and craftsmanship that each panelist took such joy in contributing to the sequel. An interactive Oculus experience offered a virtual journey into a 3-D previs file from The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. Many of our members also stopped by to say hello, while others participated in different panels and exhibited work at their own booths on the floor. Expanding our social media presence and engagement was a key focus for us this year. The amazing efforts of communications coordinator Rikki Nelson and videographer Vic Rincon, along with members Sarah Gonzalez and Aaron Sowd, who conducted social media takeovers, made this our strongest level of engagement at the convention to date. An integral part of the ADG's presence was the commitment to nurturing emerging talent. Portfolio review sessions, organized by staff member Suzy Dyer, offered aspiring artists a unique opportunity to receive valuable feedback from seasoned professionals. The members who conducted portfolio reviews were Ramsey Avery, Tim Burgard, Jasmine Alexia Jackson, David Larks, Aaron Sowd, Jose Iturriaga and Ralph Miranda. As a participating sponsor of the Masquerade, the Art Directors Guild honored two standout cosplayers who brought original concept designs and beloved characters to life from the world of television and film. The awards celebrated the captivating intersection of artistic imagination and pop culture enthusiasm, showcasing the ADG's commitment to fostering and appreciating outstanding talent. In its entirety, SDCC 2023 cemented the Art Directors Guild as a catalyst, an inspiration and a voice for the creative spirits that shape the world of entertainment. It was a testament to the enduring allure of imagination, artistry and shared passion that binds us all, and we hope to see even more of our members at next year's convention. C.
