I love the way in which the PDC makes designers meet and share. It's a mind-opening tool which stimulates creativity and desire for transmission. It really encouraged me to show what we do together as Production Designers. As the head of the Production Design program at La Fémis Film School, I think that IPDW is relevant for schools because it will allow us to share our way of teaching, improve it and help each other to pass on our knowledge on this craft. Molly Hughes PDC member (USA) "Film festivals need to promote what we do." Until Inbal and Kalina created the PDC, I didn't realize just how much I was missing this kind of connection. Taking part in Zoom panels about various topics or seeing on social media what other designers all over the world are doing is really inspiring and energizing. To be able to get to know designers whose work I have always admired, to see that we all have similar struggles, stresses and day- to-day challenges, really feels like we have some kind of collective power of identity now. Michael Bricker PDC advisor (USA) "We are both storytellers and designers, dreamers and dream-makers." We're always hungry for new perspectives, ways of thinking, ways of seeing—anything that sparks a fresh idea or an imaginative way of doing something. It's important to connect with other designers and artists to share our experiences, to swap stories and to collect special nuggets of wisdom. Over the years, the PDC has soared at showcasing lots of perspectives and voices, while celebrating the heart and soul of great Production Design. We've had a chance to see new work and to hear from designers that we hadn't been aware of before. It's an equal playing field where experienced designers, up-and-comers and students are all celebrated. Uli Hanisch PDC member (Germany) "The PDC has pushed open a gate of desires." The idea of connecting and sharing the very specific issues of us Production Design creatures, beyond guilds, units and national associations, obviously pushed a button of new community and solidarity. During IPDW, experienced designers will be able to encourage students to support a strong artistic independence, and to learn how to have a conversation on eye level with the director by realizing that we are part of the storytelling process.
