M OT I O N P I CTU R E S O U N D E D I TO R S 79 and we would all sit and watch films that I was probably too young to see. Star Wars, Terminator, Aliens, and Predator were films that completely blew my mind. There are sounds in those films that still give me chills and inspire my art. I also love playful adventure films like Indiana Jones, Back to the Future, or Jurassic Park and how the sounds in those films were so integral to the storytelling. I also love bizarre and artistic films like David Lynch films, or films like Everything Everywhere All at Once that push the boundaries of sound conceptually. The most landmark moment for me was when The Lord of the Rings came out. When I watched the behind the scenes of those films, I knew I wanted to be a part of something like that. The dedication to the craft of filmmaking was astounding. A few years later, I saw District 9, I was gob-smacked. DW: Overall, the films and TV kind of wash over me and don't get my knickers in a twist when something technical rears its head. I'm after a story, for something that can defeat my knack for spoiling the plot. Good sound and music are just a cherry on top for me. My gaming happened in the early '80s and fizzled out, but I have a huge respect for the gaming industry and I have listened to a few games that are incredible, but I'd rather play some instrument, write, paint, carve, or write, that's just me. I remember being terrified of some of the creatures in Doctor Who when I was very young, but Michelle recording at Punakaiki Bush.
