We did it, after three years, we are back to in-person award shows! It was one for the ages. We held it in the famous Wilshire Ebell Theatre of Los Angeles. The venue was beautiful, and the new format was amazing. It made the awards go quickly and our host, Patton Oswalt, was hysterical and kept the energy going throughout the show. Our Filmmaker of the Year, Jerry Bruckheimer, was very gracious when accepting his award. Tom Cruise delivered an inspired speech, and Jerry even hung around after the awards. He and Ed Harris relaxed at the bar following the show while having drinks and food. Gwendolyn Yates Whittle and her family also stayed until the venue closed and she looked great in her flowing red dress. We were so glad she accepted our Career Achievement Award, she was extremely deserving of it. There was a lot of good feedback from the members about the new venue and food. We are looking into securing this venue again next year. A huge thank you to the entire Board of Directors and Tracie in the office. After slapping ourselves on the back for a day or two, we went right back into "planning mode" and are concentrating on all the rest of the events and member benefits for the rest of the year. Our new Officers and Board of Director members are settling into their positions, and being guided by the returning ones. Remember, if you have been an active member in the organization for two years, you can run for a Board of Directors seat. We even have a retired member position. Our Sound Advice events continue to happen, and we are getting back to in- person ones soon. Eric and Miguel have some interesting shows planned. The previous ones are on the MPSE YouTube channel. Check the MPSE web page (mpse.org) regularly for Sound Advice and other event information, and to purchase MPSE merchandise. We LOVE to see MPSE swag at studios and at in-person events. Consider posting MPSE swag pictures to the MPSE Facebook "Walla" page. As always, Christina Horgan knocks it "out of the park" with her publishing of our quarterly magazine. Please, enjoy this issue of Wavelength! Sincerely,
