5 0 P E R S P E C T I V E | M AY / J U N E 2 0 2 3 I am not really what you would call a Star Wars fan. I have a lot of respect for the franchise, and I did enjoy the original three movies, but I did not stick with them or really connect with the more recent content in that galaxy as it evolved. However, when looking for a new project, I try to look for something that is totally different to the previous, and if possible, to anything I have done before to be out of my comfort zone entirely. I really like the fear of not knowing how I will achieve something. It's that journey of piecing it together with my team that makes it exciting. So, in 2019 when I was offered the chance to meet Tony Gilroy to discuss a new Star Wars streaming series that would be a prequel of Rogue One, I was not quite sure what that would lead to. As it turns out, it has become one of the most freely creative projects I have ever been allowed to design. It's voluminous in content and sometimes seemingly impossible, especially making it during a pandemic, but it's also been a very exciting and collaborative process.
